all know that healthy, across-the-board competition raises standards. This
met the criteria we had set (for expansion). It was a product that had
local potential and is a natural extension of Bakewell, being flour-based.
And so we decided to manufacture premium quality noodles and pasta”, Mr.
Naeem Nasir said at the recent launching of the product. ‘Anisa Incorporated’, Nasir and Nasir Company Limited, wholly own the business name under which the noodles and pasta will be manufactured. This is also the company that owns Bakewell

came into existence in 1988 and is believed to be one of the leading
Guyanese companies in the baking industry. Nasir
said that the aim of Anisa is to manufacture premium quality noodles and
pasta under the strictest hygienic conditions. He said also that packaging
would ensure that the product is protected from the manufacturer to the
consumer. Meanwhile,
beginning July 1, Anisa Inc.will be donating to five charitable
organisations one dollar for every pound of pasta or noodles sold in
Guyana. At the launching, the five organisations were each given $100,000, as a start to this project. The organisations are: the Kids First Fund; the Guyana Red Cross Society, the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, the Central Arya Samaj and the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana. (Neil Marks) .
