"Black Clothes" must be strengthened
The Guyana Government under the Presidency of Mr Bharrat Jagdeo, must adamantly refuse to consider the dismantling of the Target Squad popularly known as the "Black Clothes" and totally ignore any form of protest organised by the PNC/R and /or any section of our society calling for legal action to be taken against members of this squad.

On the contrary, this particular division of the Police Force must be strengthened, by increasing the number of members by drawing from the most outstanding Police and Army personnel to create an elite crime fighting division.

Their remuneration should be way above average with outstanding benefits and these men and women must receive overseas training in crime fighting techniques.

These elite police must be equipped with the best automatic weapons able to penetrate any bulletproof vest along with well maintained mobile units including an ATV (all terrain vehicle) and a helicopter for aerial surveying.

The elite taskforce must be respected by the citizens of our society and feared by the criminal element. If such a force exists, we the law-abiding folks of Guyana will be able to enjoy living without fear from the terrorist organisations presently rampant among us.

PNC champions cause of strange band of "freedom fighters"
THE PNC tries to frighten African Guyanese into believing the PPP is a "coolie people" party. They are angered by prominent blacks in the PPP who put the lie to their claims. They therefore do everything they can to discredit these people.

Ms. Shirley Edwards, Henry Jeffrey, Odinga Lamumba and many others can attest to this but none more so than Dr. Roger Luncheon who they single out with a special meanness. Criticism of Dr. Roger Luncheon has been taken to such extremes the PNC seems prepared to lose political mileage rather than lose an opportunity to lambast the good doctor.

This Dexter Cummings issue is a case in point. One would expect the party that claims to represent black people to cry foul over Dexter's dismissal, to fight for his reinstatement or call for a higher payment to the young, brilliant black Guyanese. Instead the PNC's only concern is the right or lack thereof of Dr. Luncheon to order payment to Mr. Cummings. Why do they not stand up for Dexter Cummings? A black youth who hails from Linden and whose parents hail from Buxton, two areas where the PNC likes to say they represent black interest. Is it because he was intelligent enough to plead his case successfully to President Jagdeo instead of joining the band that dig up roads, shoot and stone police? The PNC seems to lack no vigour running to defend those who come in conflict with the law.

The Shaka Blair issue again proves the PNC has missed the bus. The party boasts so many lawyers and supporters in every section of the judiciary yet they were upstaged by Mr. Eusi Kwayana who looked very statesmanlike in perusing the matter legally or is the PNC satisfied with their policy of March and mayhem? Do they have no desire to see Guyana peaceful or progressive?

What does their action against Dexter Cummings tell other young intelligent black youth who were fed the lie the PNC is black Guyanese salvation? They look on in wonder as their interest is pushed to the back burner while the PNC champions the cause of a strange brand of 'freedom fighters' - the common criminal.
