PPP: PNC/R must take blame for ministry bombing
THE RULING PPP says the main opposition PNC/R must take blame for the fire-bombing of the Ministry of Home Affairs Sunday night.

The PPP says the channa bombing of the ministry, which it describes as a "dastardly attempt," came "just hours after PNC/R leader Mr. Robert Corbin let it be known that the time for talk was over and the time for action had come."

Reports are that three men hurled three channa bombs into the southern side of the building around 22:15 hours or 10.15 p.m. Sunday, and ran away on foot. The incident damaged part of the conference hall at the upper flat of the ministry.

In a statement yesterday, the PPP said "It is a matter of historical record that the PNC/R is given to violent actions in furtherance of its agenda, and it has made no secret of its preferred methods of operations.

"Going back only to recent history, we remember the violence and fires following the outcome of the 1997 elections, which results it refused to accept. Again after the 2001 elections, whose results it also refused to accept, several buildings were burnt down during its slow fire/more fire protests."

The PPP said it seems that the PNC/R has "once again decided to resort to such tactics, which must be condemned in the strongest possible terms, as they pose serious danger to the society and to the peace and stability of the country."

Is Sunday night's bomb incident tied to the 'time for action' call?
In relation to the stance taken by the PNC/R on the unsubstantiated allegations against Home Affairs Minister Mr. Ronald Gajraj, staying out of Parliament and organising the 'rule of law' march,' etc., PNC/R leader Robert Corbin said that it is now the time for action.

Well, it seems that his words have to be taken very seriously, for a channa bomb was thrown at the Ministry of Home Affairs, probably to underline his words that now is the time for action.

So, how many more channa bombs are going to be thrown and what other unlawful actions are going to be taken by subversive elements in our society, arguably in response to the PNC/R's 'time for action' declaration?
Yours faithfully,
Amanda Jones
