‘Poverty in the Paradise’

Produced in late 2003 this 50-minute film explores the issue of alarming increase in poverty among Indo-Fijians in Fiji. Presented by Thakur Ranjit Singh the film features interviews of Dr Biman Prasad and Sunil Kumar-co-authors of Poverty in Indo-Fijian and minority communities of Fiji, published in 2002.

‘Once were Farmers’

Produced in February 2004, this film contains footage of farms in Ba from where Indo-Fijians have been evicted. Presented by Thakur Ranjit Singh, it also contains interviews with evicted farmers as well as some farmers who have paid very heavy goodwill to the Fijian landowners in order to keep their family farm. The film also features extracts from speech of Hon. Mahendra Pal Chaudhry when he addressed some farmers in Tavua in December 2003.

Both the Films have been produced by RAIVISION FILMS and directed by Satish Rai

The evening will also feature entertainment by

members of Indo-Fuzion Orchestra and other well-known artists of Sydney
