PNC had no complaints against Constitution before ’92
Most people find it strange that the very people in the PNC in the 1960s who are clamouring for power sharing were able to remain in office through rigged elections for 28 years having absolutely no problem with the Westminster form of Government and with what they refer to as the ‘winner-take-all’ system!

Now, they are finding almost everything wrong with it and with the very Constitution that they imposed on the Guyanese people in 1980. At that time it was called “the People’s Constitution.”

They are attributing all the problems we still have in the country to the form of governance, which we had, but they are not telling us that they were in government for 28 years and stoutly defended every action they took as being done within the framework of that very Constitution.

“It wasn’t us, it was the system,” according to them. Now, of course, everything is the fault of the PPP/Civic Government!

They didn’t have any problem with the Constitution before 1992. Now they would have us believe that all the problems commenced from the moment the PPP/Civic won office.

They are not even ashamed of the very absurdity of their propaganda, seemingly bent desperately to try and rewrite history. But how many people can they fool - except those who are willing to be fooled and enjoy being fooled?
Yours faithfully,
Yonette Gonsalves
