Kumar Gaurav
Bollywood actor Kumar Gaurav arrives in Guyana today for a seven-week stay during which he will do the local shoot of the movie, "Guiana 1838 - Someday I'll see you again", which centers around the immigration to then British Guiana of Indian indentured labourers.

Gaurav is known here in Guyana for the romantic leads he played in Indian movies in the 80's, namely Love Story and Teri Kasam, and more recently, the action flick Kaante, which played well at the box office.

Gaurav will play the role of Laxman, an indentured labourer who came on one of the first ships that entered this country in 1838.

Various areas in Berbice, from Numbers 60-66 villages will be used for the re-creation of the setting, including the Bay of Bengal, from where some of the labourers departed India for British Guiana.

The movie will feature other actors out of India, nine Indian film stars out of New York, and 17 British actors.

Preliminary shooting for the film has already taken place in Calcutta, India, one of the main areas from which the indentured labourers were contracted to work on the sugar plantations of British Guiana after the abolition of slavery.

Over 100 persons from Guyana have already been confirmed to play various characters in the movie.

Gaurav will actually begin shooting for the movie in Guyana on March 21st and run until the end of April.

Gaurav is the son of veteran actor and producer, the late Rajendra Kumar.
