Is the PNC/R afraid of a police investigation?
People have to wonder why the PNC/R are afraid to have the Police investigate the allegations against the Minister of Home Affairs.

Why are they twisting and turning so, to obstruct and prevent any possibility of the Police Force conducting such an investigation and are calling so vociferously for a so-called "independent "enquiry ?

Maybe it is not so surprising at all, when you consider the number of skeletons which the PNC/R has in its cupboard.

There is a long litany of woes and crimes attributed to this party which has made no secret of its links to and use of criminal elements.

During the 'crime spree' centered in and around Buxton, this party and their executives had free access to come and go in this area, and their functionaries were present at the funerals of murderous criminals who were killed in confrontations with the Police.

When over twenty police officers were slain by criminals in cold blood, this party made little or no comment and indeed their propaganda was to 'idolize the criminals and ‘demonize' the Police. Maybe this is one of the reasons why they are reluctant to have them conduct an investigation according to the normal rules and procedures.

Ironical that the opposition can stand where Fr. Darke was stabbed
It is indeed ironical that the Opposition Party, PNC/Reform, can stand on the very spot where Father Bernard Darke was stabbed repeatedly and killed in broad daylight, and accuse anyone, especially the Minister of Home Affairs, of illegal killings!

I wonder if anyone protesting there takes the time off to read the inscription on the stone that is on the spot in remembrance of Father Darke, who at the time of his demise was a reporter of The Catholic Standard, going after a story to let the people know the goings on of the party then in power.

What about the two men that were gunned down at Number 63 Toll Gate, defending the ballots boxes? No one has been prosecuted to date, and the list is too long for me to go into. My sympathies are with all the families who have lost loved ones. The trauma that innocent citizens have gone through, at the hands of supporters of the PNC and of the criminal elements who "infiltrated" the vigilant groups of supporters of the PNC, takes a long time to go away.

Suffice it to say that the Leader and protesters of the Opposition indeed have a very shallow memory. They can, however, choose to forget their sins of not so long ago and save their energies and other resources and put their lives to uses that could benefit the whole nation.

One old saying is "Bare face nah gat shame", and it certainly applies to the PNC/R.

BBC personnel resigned only after the Hutton inquiry
MR. Tony Blair, British Prime Minister, had serious allegations made against him over his justification to go to war in Iraq, plus the suicide of Dr. David Kelly, his Arms adviser. Calls were made for Mr. Blair's resignation.

A senior judge, Lord Hutton, was appointed by Prime Minister Blair to conduct an inquiry into Dr. Kelly's suicide.

In the report the judge said that it was wrong for the British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC] to report that the government had " sexed up" intelligence to justify the war in Iraq.

The Lord Hutton inquiry report was followed almost immediately by the resignation of the BBC Chairman.

A proper investigation was made first and as a result of the findings, the BBC Chairman resigned.

So to ask a Cabinet Minister to resign before a formal investigation into the allegations against the minister is most unreasonable.

No one resigned from the PNC when the PNC regime squandered some US$2.8 million of hard-earned Guyanese cash in the purchase of a so-called 10-megawatt floating barge from a company in Miami instead of accepting a 30-megawatt generating set from the Italian Government for almost the same amount!

For all those who have shallow memories, one of the persons involved in that catastrophic arrangement was Mr. Robert Corbin, the same Mr. Corbin who is now leading a campaign for the resignation of Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Ronald Gajraj over an allegation.

In the case of the power barge, which blew up after failing to generate even half of that 10-megawatt power, no allegation was made. That was something real. Yet no one organized a campaign for Mr. Corbin and the other minister then involved to resign.

Don't accept bullying
I will like to remind you, the PPP Government, that when Burnham got into power he sent soldiers to take away all the Indian people's guns and guns licenses because he perceived that almost all Indians were members or supporters of the PPP. Remember, we have the right to get back our guns and licenses.

We, the members of the PPP are calling on the ruling party to stop accepting the bullying of the PNC. Just don't accept bullying from that party anymore.

We don't want to live under the rule of PNC. That's the reason why we have put the PPP into power. If the PNC wants to have its own way out of government, we can just imagine what it would do if it gets back into office!
